As people in everyday life continue to burn fossil fuels, cut down forests, and emit greenhouse gases, these actions are slowly but surely increasing the temperature of our planet leading to a process called "global warming" which in due time will have detrimental effects on the world

One place that is affected by global warming is the arctic. Due to the Earth's temperatures increasing, glaciers in the arctic are melting, species are losing their home and as a result species food chain is disrupted, and essential habitats in the arctic are disappearing. If the animals in the arctic are at risk of extinction, that affects the rest of the food chain including animals that don't live in the arctic which will also affect humans. Furthermore, the rapid melting of glaciers allowing sea levels to rise puts countries, especially one's close to sea level, at risk of being sunken by the higher ocean water. Overall, protecting the arctic is very important for maintain the well-being of Earth.

Not only are ice regions like the arctic greatly affected by global warming, but forest fires are also becoming worse due to global warming. A perfect example would be the Canadian wildfires in 2023 which were prolonged and enhanced by the dry, and hot weather that set the perfect conditions for the fire. Other wildfires like the Californian Wildfires, Amazon Rainforest wildfires, and the Siberian Wildfires and many more were all caused due to global warming and dry and hot conditions. These wildfires hurt animals, destroy important ecosystems, pollute the air and carry many other negative affects to the world.

Many lakes and bodies of water are also starting to dry up due to the increasing climate. Increased temperature leads to faster evaporation. A example is the Colorado River, which has fallen into critical condition due to high evaporation rates and precipitation rates not being fast enough to replenish the lost water. This fate is the same for many other rivers and bodies of water around the world. As a result of losing these bodies of water, animals lose their homes and life's, ecosystems are destroyed, the food chain is further disrupted, and water supply is decreased.

There are many other negative effects global warming has on places and ecosystems throughout the world. If global warming is not stopped, the world will continue to lose precious places and Earth in the near future will be no longer recognizable.
